Liverpool Pride

LIVERPOOL will be out and proud on Saturday August 6 and you can be a part of it.

Liverpool Pride
Applications are now open for the city centre pride march, which leaves St Georges Plateau at noon en route to the main stage at Pier Head.

Last year more than 3,000 people – led by Marie Causer, mother of murdered gay teenager Michael Causer – marched through the city.

"Michael wouldn’t have missed the pride march for the world,” said Marie. "I hope that everyone comes out to support this year’s event.

"We’re still so honoured that the community chose Michael’s anniversary as the date to hold Liverpool Pride. It’s a beautiful tribute to him and his memory.”

Organisers are this year hoping for an even larger crowd to take to the streets of Liverpool.

"We want to show that homophobic violence is not acceptable,” said Tommy McIlravey, chairman of Liverpool Pride.

"It is a day when we all feel valued, included and equal citizens.

"Those are feelings a lot of people take for granted but the recent homophobic attacks are a grim reminder how much hatred and ignorance is still out there.”

The march is free to join and Individuals, groups and organisations are invited to take part by registering online at www.liverpoolpride.co.uk/march, or you can turn up on the day. Liverpool Pride is also seeking volunteers to help in the run-up to and on the day of the festival.

WHAT YOU THINK OF US

I just happened to come across your site and it looks great. I am a make-up artist based in Cornwall and I have done a few lesbian weddings over the past couple of years and what surprises me is that they phone up and are worried that I may take offence that they are gay. It must be horrible to feel in that position so to have a magazine featuring people who are happy to make their day special is such a fantastic idea.

Just a quick email to thank you for my copy of the new magazine and to say how pleased I am to be part of it – I’m really impressed!  I love the tone of the editorial which has managed  to be informative without being patronising – a rarity in the world of wedding journalism, I find! Wishing you every success with the South West edition of Tickled Pink.

Congratulations to all of you on a great magazine. I hope it is really successful. We photograph our first civil partnership in November. We cannot wait.

We think it's great news that there will finally be a magazine dedicated to the gay wedding community. We wish you all the best for the magazine.
